| Overview: Do you have a passion for sport, sponsorship & business? Are you looking for work experience in some or all of the following disciplines? · Fundraising · Marketing · Event Management · Journalism · Sales · Research · Financial planning & budgets Then we might have a work-experience opportunity for you! Communicate Sport & London Youth Rowing have created a role for either a graduate, or a student looking for work experience to develop skills and techniques across a broad range of marketing disciplines through sport & sponsorship. We’re looking for a bright, motivated, conscientious go-getter with great communication skills to work on either a short-term summer placement, or a 10 month long programme that will provide access to a range of work experience within the sport & sponsorship sector. This is a predominately unpaid role, with the possible opportunity to participate in occasional paid projects. About us: Communicate Sport is one of the leading information-providers to the UK sponsorship market. We own a range of products that are utilised by hundreds of organisations in the UK, including football, rugby & cricket clubs, sports governing bodies, the cultural sector, charities, local government, entertainment & broadcasters. Our client list ranges from the likes of Manchester United FC & the FA, through to the National Theatre, Tate, MTV, Granada Ventures, Cancer Research and a huge range in-between! London Youth Rowing is one of the country’s fastest-growing charities, providing opportunities for young people from all backgrounds to get involved in sport at any level. LYR operates physical activity clubs in schools and youth clubs throughout the capital, and rowing programmes in five affiliated rowing clubs. The run up to the Olympics is a critical time for our development, with lots of interest in what we offer young Londoners from the Lord Mayor through to PCTs and local authorities. Communicate Sport & London Youth Rowing have worked together on a range of projects over the last 3 years, and as a result of this association, realised that together, we were able to collaborate to develop an interesting and varied role for an individual seeking to develop and gain experience in the sponsorship, fundraising and communications sector. About the role: We can provide a unique opportunity for an individual to develop insight & intelligence into the UK sponsorship market, honing their skills in event management, marketing, sales, journalism, fundraising, research, & data management. We believe that getting structured insight, experience & a solid understanding of the UK sponsorship market via the products owned by Communicate Sport (Think!Sponsorship conference, Sponsorship News magazine, Find!Sponsorship & The Meeting Room) , would pave the way for our intern to utilise these skills in a ‘real life’ scenario at London Youth Rowing, who both seek and manage sponsorship arrangements with a range of high-profile organisations. Notable existing sponsors of London Youth Rowing include Man Group, Sport England & Henley Stewards Trust. Our intern would also develop skills and experience in the fundraising process - both finding and applying for relevant grants and funding opportunities. About You: We’re looking for an ambitious, bright, flexible-thinker who is keen to learn! Demonstrable communication skills (including written) are a must- as is the ability to take on board new ideas and use your initiative.
